Who's Your Daddy?

If you haven't watched our interview with Harold Ford, Jr on Tennessee This Week, you should. He has an uncanny ability to deflect criticism, then smoothly transition into his talking points.

An example is his answer to why it's alright for him to question Bob Corker's relationship with Jimmy Haslam, head of Pilot Oil and Corker's State Finance Chairman, but not alright for Corker to question Ford about his father's influence on him as a lobbyist for Fannie Mae.

Ford said: "My father and my mama had me. They're not part of my campaign. If they want to question my chairman, a Tennessee farmer, fine."

Then he added: " If Mr Corker is saying Mr Haslam is his daddy, and I'm not saying that he is, then that's different, but leave my family out of it."

Ford had a lot more to say during our half hour conversation.

We asked him about his faith. He says he makes no apologies for loving Jesus. Blogger Terry Frank has some interesting thoughts about that part of the discussion at her blog.

He talked about Iraq, arguing that it's time for a new strategy. He talked about the minimum wage, about attending an out of state school and about the "Playboy playmate" ad against.

He also talked about his opponent, saying Corker's attack on his family was "an act of desperation," and Corker's campaign as one that's out of ideas and "in flux."

It was certainly an interesting conversation. Bob Corker gets his chance this week. Stay tuned.

I am so sick of Harold Ford

I am so sick of Harold Ford Jr and his family. Remember the old saying" The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" ? I have never met Bob Corker, but any man who can start a business and build it like he has, definitely has my vote over a man that was born into and inherited a political machine.

I think Bob Corker's attempt

I think Bob Corker's attempt to bring Harold Ford Sr into this election looks like a desperate move.

Harold Ford cannot choose who is family is and he is not responsible for what they have done politically. Ford has been in Washington 10 years and so far no scandal.

However, Corker did choose the oil magnate to be his campaign manager and I for one am sick of the oil industry at this point!! I do not want to see another republican who owes the oil industry anything to be elected.

There are several issues which are killing the republican party and one of them is the price of oil. Corker wasn't too smart to have an oilman as his campaign manager!!!!

Bryan, When you say "build

Bryan,

When you say "build (a business) like he has", are you talking about greasing down conservation easements to drain a prestine wetland so a Walmart can be built on top all the while making millions of dollars out of it while being mayor?

As a mayor it is your

As a mayor it is your responsibility to your city to bring in new industry and jobs. Being a contractor to build these buildings also is a conflict in interest in my book. I do not doubt for one minute that Corker has profited nicely from his stint as mayor!!!!

I think they should all shut

I think they should all shut up. It is so un nerving to watch these grown men who claim to be upstanding citizens act like children on national TV. I think they should both be real men and get over each other and focus on real issues! (that matter)
