Election Day
It seems this campaign has been going on forever. I'm sure the candidates feel that way.
I voted this morning at AL Lotts and experienced a pleasant surprise. Rather than zipping in and out in a few minutes, it took me more than 30 minutes to vote.
I'm not a big fan of long lines, but on election day, I figure that's a good thing.
I voted early once, a few years ago. I didn't particularly care for it. I always felt I was going to miss something about the candidates by voting early.
And besides, it feels good to stand in line with other citizens, sensing the excitement of the day, knowing that in a few hours the races will be decided.
Here's how WATE is covering the election today. We have reporters across the state, in Memphis covering the Ford Campaign (Adam Longo), in Chattanooga covering the Corker Campaign (Don Dare) and in Nashville covering the Bredesen and Bryson Campaigns (Amelia Daniels).
We're also set up at both local republican and democrat headquarters tonight. Melissa Dipone will be with the democrats, Catharyn Campbell will be with the republicans.
Sonu Wassu will be watching the vote on the Marriage Amendment and the Knox County Charter questions. And a number of our producers will be canvassing East Tennessee for results of the State House and Senate races.
ABC begins its coverage at 9:30 tonight. And we'll provide cut-ins and crawls throughout the evening.
Here's a good site if you're interested in the national picture. It's from the New York Times.
And check back on this blog throughout the evening. I'll try to post as often as I can about any issues that may arise this evening.
