Lumpy Got his Gun

County Commissioner Greg "Lumpy" Lambert is a reporter's dream. It seems he never fails to deliver a good quote when he's in the middle of something; and he's always in the middle of something.

Whether he's giving away guns at his car lot...or wearing a giant "screw" outift while voicing his opposition to an income tax..or petitioning against the County's wheel tax, you can count on Lumpy for copy.

This weekend brought another example of why he gets so much coverage. Lumpy says he was trying to sell a young fellow a car, when the young man pulled a gun on him. I don't know about you, but if someone pulled a gun on me, I pretty much do whatever that person said to do.

But not Lumpy. Instead, he pulls out his own gun and orders the 19-year-old to drop his weapon. A few tense moments later, the teen does just that and exits the business. He was later picked up and arrested by Sheriff's deputies.

We ran this story Sunday. A friend called to ask for a copy. He wants to send it to NRA Magazine. It has a feature called "Armed Citizen" and the friend thinks this would be a perfect example. I don't disagree.

Now I hear Lumpy's nickname is changing. Look for "Quick Draw" Lambert at the next commission meeting.

Personally I find it

Personally I find it disturbing that he carries a gun in his pocket and is so apt to pull it out. One of these days it will be at the wrong moment and someone will be shot. This person will be hurt or maybe killed. I guess as long as the NRA has a story to publish and we have such a tale to tell on the six o clock news, it is okay for him to be toting a gun. Far be it for us to deny anyone a great story to tell and a hero to make out of a madman with a gun!!!!

Personally, I find it

Personally, I find it disturbing that thugs are carrying weapons around and, when stopped by a LAWFUL gun owner, alarms people like softballmom who thinks people should be gunned down rather than defend themselves. The FACT is that those licensed to carry handguns are far more law-abiding than the general public. Rather than bad mouth Mr. Lambert, softballmom and others of her ilk should praise him for ensuring a predator is removed from circulation - before he had a chance to kill someone just like them.

I am sorry, but that pic of

I am sorry, but that pic of ole Lumpy looks like a trailer for the Keystone Cops Reunion.

It's called the second

It's called the second amendment. It works.

I suggest that softballmom

I suggest that softballmom put a sign in her yard advising every passerby that she is unarmed and asking that no one bother her. I get sick of sheeple,(sheep people), sleeping safe at night because brave men stand ready to do violence on their behalf and then have to put up with ignorant berating by liberals.

Barry, I am a liberal and I

Barry,

I am a liberal and I own 2 guns with the knowledge how to use em. Let's not make any hasty generalizations here, k?

Your public service segment

Your public service segment from Kristin Farley about gun and self defense rights had many mistakes. Would you care to do that segment over and get the facts right?

Long conversation here:

It is not a public service if it is riddled with errors. A redo is in order.

I agree with Barry and

I agree with Barry and Drake. I'll kick in on the cost of the sign for softballmom's yard and, yeah, the Second Amendment does work and, in this case may have stopped a serious incident.

Sorry Knoxvoter, but you are

Sorry Knoxvoter, but you are the exception to the rule if you have no problem with the second amendment. I know many liberals who have guns, the problem is, they think that only they have enough sense to own them and everybody else should bow to their superior intelligence. I sir, prefer to think for myself, defend myself, and support myself without the benevolent left wing doing it for me.

Softballmom does not need

Softballmom does not need any sign in her front yard. She has the right to walk anywhere and feel safe. If every business owner packs a gun in his/her pocket with the intent to pull it out at any moment, then shopping is a nightmare. I don't think this "thug" should get away with pulling a gun on anyone, and he should be locked up for many years. But at the same time, this Lambert character shouldn't be hailed as a hero because this type of thing will encourage others to carry a gun also. I can see the potential for danger here and cannot believe that you all cannot see it as well. When it is your teenager, elderly parent, spouse, etc who is shot as an innocent bystander, we will see how you will feel!! I guess it will take this kind of shooting to wake people up.

A better solution is to have some kind of monitor in their pocket that can radio the police, and keep the robber talking until the police can get there and take action. I am not saying to not have a gun, just keep it in the desk drawer instead of his pants pocket!!
