Decision on Charter Set for Friday
The State Supreme Court is expected to issue its opinion regarding the validity of Knox County's Charter Friday afternoon.
It will be interesting to see how County Commission handles the announcement. Earlier, Chairman Scott Moore said Commissioners would meet in executive session with County Law Director John Owings to discuss the ramifications of the ruling.
Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale has said meeting in private would not be the right thing to do. Commissioner Mark Harmon, several weeks ago on Tennessee This Week, agreed with Ragsdale, saying the only reason to meet privately would be to discuss a possible future legal move.
In this case, the court is already the highest in the land. So what would be the next step? Federal Court? Not likely.
The much anticipated State Supreme Court decision, regardless of where it falls, will be big news.
*Update - Scott Moore tells 6 News, Commissioners will be meeting, in private, with John Owing after the ruling. It'll take place sometime tomorrow afternoon.
*Update II - Moore now says a public meeting this afternoon isn't possible because of the 5-day public notice rule. He's discussing his options with the Law Department.

Lets hope that this is finally put to rest. If we are lucky we will be rid of some career county commisioners, and a ethically questionable sheriff.

Get ready Knox County...The law director is already planning a "PRIVATE closed door meeting" that will not be open to the public. This sounds like a job for every local media outlet to crash this meeting and let the PUBLIC know exactly what is going on. My guess? Diane Jordan gets to continue her "lifestyle" until the end of this term along with all the other career politicians. Judge Weaver...you out there?
