Loyd Challenges the Mayor
Embattled Margie Loyd, the former Mayor's executive assistant, is leaving County government, but not without firing a volley across the bow of the HMS (his mayor's ship) Ragsdale.
Loyd has been in and out of the news for weeks. First over a cruise ship charge billed to her County P-card (she repaid the charge). Then over a lobster lunch with
then-Commissioner Dianne Jordan and a yet unnamed third person that cost taxpayers more than 200 dollars...
In a letter from Loyd's newly retained attorney, Greg Isaacs, Isaacs confirms his clients departure from government, but also raised a number of issues:
1 - Loyd says her use of the P-card was with the approval and consent of the Mayor and his staff. Her lobster lunch was at the urging of the Mayor who - according to Isaacs and Loyd - instructed Lloyd that Commissioner Jordan was to be "well taken care of" because of political considerations.
2 - She disputed the media accounts of her cruise ship charge. Isaacs letter says she used the card to put a "hold" on the trip and when the charge appeared on her card she "immediately" notified the county finance department and reimbursed the county.
And 3 - Loyd made clear to Isaacs that she used her P-card within the policies and procedures that existed within the Knox County's Mayor's office.
In other words - if Loyd did something wrong, she was only following the example set by the Mayor and his staff.

Who will resign next? Will
Who will resign next? Will it be Cynthia Finch or Mike Arms? When will the call for Mayor Ragsdale's resignation begin?
What is this about Mayor
What is this about Mayor Ragsdale charging a colonoscopy on his Knox County credit card? When does this end? Or more appropriately, where does it end?
Knox County has become the
Knox County has become the laughing stock of the region, if not the nation, because of our elected officials and thier staffs. They can no longer be trusted to be in charge of our tax dollars. Ragsdale needs to fire Mike Arms and then do the honorable thing and resign. If this does not occur soon then the citizens of Knox County need to demand a recall or removal from office. This goes for the county commissioners as well. Though there are a few, very few, commissioners who are still trustworthy. We, the tax payers have become victims of theft and the Knox County sheriff needs to take care of business and make some arrests. In my opinion, our county government is out of control. The FBI needs to be invited in and uncover the whole ball of wax. We would probably be shocked to learn the complete depth of this scandal.
Does she have the approvals
Does she have the approvals she received from Mayor Ragsdale? Also, she resigned. She was not fired. If there were problems with discrimination, she should have acted on them while she was employed. If I were to resign from my job, it would be at my own choice, not because of what the company thought of me. Discrimination is not right, it is very wrong. But anymore, I wonder who is being discriminated against.
Playing the "Race Card" is
Playing the "Race Card" is grasping at straws. Is this how Margie Loyd is defending her unethical behavior?
And..
What idiot decided that credit cards were an appropriate venue to accommodate officials' expenses? Whatever happened to the "good old paper trail" method of reimbursing previously approved expenses?
I guess I don't understand
I guess I don't understand why or how these officials got the idea that using "their" county issued P-cards for any personal business was right, or condonable by any normal persons beliefs. I know if I used my companies card for my personal use and tried to reimburse when the bill came in, I'd get canned.
Now for the race card. So let me get this straight, as long as she was working for the county at her high salary she was fine with how she was treated filling NO complaints but now that she made "mistakes" by abusing the public's trust and came under fire, resigned by her own hand not fired by the mayor she wants to file a discrimination complaint. hmmm
But the mayor is standing by another person of color ie: Finch so how's that discrimination?
Atleast this is keeping the heat off the Knox County school board.
