ABC Ban on Flag Pins

A friend e-mailed me something he'd received recently regarding ABC and a decision to
ban flag lapel pins on the air.

Here's what it said:

This should make your blood boil..it DOES mine!

ABC NEWS BANS FLAG LAPEL PINS!

Yesterday, the brass at ABC News issued orders forbidding reporters to wear lapel pin, American flags, or other patriotic insignia. Their reasoning was that ABC should remain neutral about causes. Since when is support for preventing death and destruction some sort of a 'cause?' Since when is patriotism to be discouraged? I urge you to boycott ABC and its sponsors and affiliates. We are slowly losing everything our country stands for and everything our men and women fought and died to preserve! Please forward this to as many as you can. This has been verified.

The e-mailer is correct that ABC has indeed banned flag lapel pins from its air...but it was 7 years ago, not yesterday. And it was in the aftermath of 9-11.

According to ABC spokesman Jeffrey Schneider, the network believed instituting the ban was necessary to protect its reporters' credibility and their personal safety abroad.

"We cannot signal through outward symbols how we feel, even if the cause is justified," he said to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Overseas, it could be perceived that we're just mouthpieces for the U.S. government, and that can place our journalists in danger."

ABC was the only network to institute such a policy. It has been both applauded and derided.

Dr. Scott Calev: I don't know if you're really a doctor. I do know you're a first class idiot. Obama has NEVER been a Muslim. But even if he had been, that would not disqualify him from being president and governing according to the Constitution. (You do remember the Constitution, right?)

Hi Gene, Again we see how the print and tv media only reports what it wishes. Yellow journalism rules. Do they really think that if America fall to Muslim rule they will even exist of not be the first to die.
Be SCARED if we do not grab onto the flag with both hand and wave as strong as we can we are doomed. Remember Hussein Obama was a Muslim for 25 years, He hates and has urinated time and time again on our America.

I am tired of politically correct everything.  It is basically used to give rights to the most outrageous of people while taking away the rights of anyone who dares disagree with them.  This used to be America "land of the free". We are getting close to America "land of the muzzled".  I am so glad I will not live that many more years to see if it deteriorates even more.  I am hoping to God it does not!
