State Reps on Budget

Submitted by Gene Patterson on March 27, 2009 - 9:39pm

State Representatives Joe Armstrong and Ryan Haynes join us on Tennessee This Week Sunday.

The two discuss the Governor's budget proposal.  Surprisingly, Armstrong, a democrat, has some issues with the Governor's spending plan.

The program marks Haynes first appearance on Tennessee This Week.

Kelvin Moxley and Cortney Piper wrap up the program with the Final Word.

There are thousands of bill

Submitted by The Rep. (not verified) on March 29, 2009 - 2:06pm.
There are thousands of bill being run in the legislature. We have already passed several (hundreds?) bills that are not budget concerns (a budget that we are only just now getting to see). The budge is not the only issue in the state. Otherwise we would pass one bill a year and go home. I think the legislature can walk and chew gum at the same time. I am sure your guests would not mind talking about their bills or their fields of specialty. Joe Armstrong is former chair of health. SJR127 is moving forward to change the constitution on abortion. Abortion is one of the biggest issues of our generation. Why was that not brought up? Instead you talk about a bill I have not even put forward in the first committee. Have never even had up for the first vote. Have never done a press release on. No one else has done a story on and I haven't even talked about in at least a year until your station called me about it out of the blue. You then go on to question its importance. I would say both the legislators you had on today had several bills of their own that have little to nothing to do directly with the budget that they have not run yet. Are those issues not important? To them I would say they are. To some of their constituents I would say they probably are. Just because those bills do not spark mass interest does that make them important or unimportant? Would you infer that to them, about them or about their legislation on your show? I would say for the most part probably not. If you would ever like me to come on your show personally and talk about my own legislation that I am actually running I would be happy to. We can talk pros and cons. You can have on the other side if you want. I wont run from honest debate and I am easy to get ahold of. Yours in service, Rep. Stacey Campfield

I hope the above comment was not from the real state representative named Stacey Campfield. Such lack of care in writing implies lack of care elsewhere.

Apology to Mr. Campfield

Submitted by BayardJDonahoo (not verified) on April 11, 2009 - 12:26am.
Dear Mr. Campfield, I criticized your writing above. I was wrong to. Recently, Gene's comment-program has not been allowing for separation of paragraphs. It squishes everything together, making it appear to be one, huge, run-on glob. The messy, traffic jam of sentences above was not your fault, and I apologize for my remarks. I was out of line. Sincerely, Bayard J. Donahoo
