Haslam Poll Shows Knoxville Mayor in Lead in Gov's Race
An internal poll commissioned by the Haslam for Governor Campaign shows the Knoxville Mayor enjoying a comfortable lead over his two Republican rivals.
The latest numbers show Bill Haslam leading statewide over Congressman Zach Wamp and Lt Governor Ron Ramsey.
The poll was conducted between June 1- 3, by Ayres, McHenry and Associates - and shows Haslam with 37 percent, Wamp with 24 percent, Ramsey with 15 percent and Undecided at 24 percent.
Polling (according to the released memo) involved responses from 600 likely Republican voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
Perhaps most disconcerting to Haslam's opponents is that while Mayor Bill has been steadily growing in support, Wamp and Ramsey's support has been mostly flat.
If true, the Wamp and Ramsey folks are going to have to make some waves and get noticed to reach those still undecided voters.
It could be a long hot summer.
